Asus Expands Zenfone 3 Lineup With the New Zenfone 3 Laser and Zenfone 3 Max

Taiwanese PC hardware and smartphone maker Asus has expanded its Zenfone 3 family with the introduction of Zenfone 3 Laser and Zenfone 3 Max smartphones. The two devices were made official at a special event in Vietnam. The two smartphones join the already announced Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Deluxe, and the Zenfone 3 Ultra.
As you can guess by its name, the Zenfone 3 Laser succeeds the Zenfone 2 Laser. The smartphone features 5.5-inch display with 1080p resolution and 2.5D glass on top. Asus did not reveal any specific details regarding the chipset inside the smartphone, except saying that it is an octa-core chipset. When it comes to memory, the Zenfone 3 Laser includes 4GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. The rear camera on the Zenfone 3 Laser is a 13MP Sony IMX214 unit with second-gen laser autofocus system that is claimed to be able to lock focus in just 0.03 seconds. It also includes electronic image stabilization, a color correction sensor, and PixelMaster 3.0 tech. Other highlights of the Zenfone 3 Laser include a premium metal build with a 7.9mm profile and a fingerprint sensor that is claimed to unlock the device in just 0.2 seconds.

The Zenfone 3 Max is a mid-range smartphone for those who care about battery stamina more than anything else. That said, the 4100mAh battery inside the smartphone is still smaller than the 5000mAh unit inside the Zenfone Max. Like the Zenfone 3 Laser, the Zenfone Max too features a metal design and comes with a fingerprint sensor that can unlock the device in just 0.2 seconds. The IPS display of the Zenfone Max measures 5.2-inches diagonally and offers 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution. Asus hasn’t revealed any info on the chipset, but did reveal that it will come equipped with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage.

Both smartphones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the Zen UI custom skin on top. They will be available for sale in Vietnam soon with a price tag of VND 5,990,000 ($268) for the Zenfone 3 Laser and VND 4,490,000 ($201) for the Zenfone Max. Colors options include Titanium Grey, Glacier Silver, and Sand Gold.
