Galaxy S7 and S6 along with their edge variants getting July security update in India

Samsung has finally started to roll out the latest July security update for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S7, and the Galaxy S7 Edge in India. The update started rolling out for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge in other markets earlier this month, so it has taken Samsung longer than usual to get the update out to consumers in India this time. The Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge on the other hand started receiving the update in other regions only recently, so for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge owners in India, the wait hasn’t been that long. However, it looks like owners of the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ in the country will need to wait even longer, as Samsung is yet to start seeding the update for the two phablets.

The July security patch OTA update weighs in at 104MB in case of the Galaxy S7 and 100MB for the Galaxy S7 Edge. The build number of the update for the Galaxy S7 is G930FXXU1APGF while for the Galaxy S7 Edge it is G935FXXU1APGF. Even though it is a relatively minor update, it is still a good idea to download the update only when your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network and not over the cellular data network. Also, do remember that it usually takes a day or two before an OTA update is pushed out to most users, so some of you will have to be a little patient for the update to arrive on your handset. You can also check for the update manually by going to Settings – About Device – Software Update – Check for Updates.

No specific details regarding the update are available for the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge yet, so it looks like it might take a few days for the update to become available for all units.
