LG V20 Specifications Leak, Official Announcement on September 6
LG has sent out invites to a media event on September 6 in San Francisco, where the company will be officially unveiling the V20, successor to last year’s V10. The two taglines used in the invite are “Play More” and “The second story begins”. A second event will take place in Seoul on September 7, where LG is expected to announce the V20 for the South Korean market. Last year, the V10 didn’t prove to be quite popular among consumers in South Korea, so a dedicated event for the market could perhaps generate greater interest.
While LG has not yet revealed anything about the hardware of the V20, a new leak claims to shed light on the upcoming phablet’s spec-sheet. According to the new leak, the LG V20 is going to feature a 5.7-inch display with 1440 x 2560 Quad HD resolution, which is identical to the V10. A secondary display will be on offer as well, most likely the same size as the one on the V10. It will purportedly be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core SoC under the hood as the G5, with the Adreno 530 GPU. While there is no word on the internal memory, the leak suggests the phablet will “only” include 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM.
At the back, the V20 won’t have the same dual camera setup of the G5. Instead, it appears the phablet will come with a 21MP camera. However, there will be dual cameras on the front, similar to the setup on the V10. On the software front, as confirmed by LG, the V20 will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
The LG V20 will certainly not find it very easy to find success, as it will need to take on the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and the upcoming Apple iPhone 7 Plus head-on.
