Oxygen OS 2.2.2 now Available for the OnePlus X
The OnePlus X is not the best Android based smartphone that you can buy, but it is a decent device offered on a decent price. If you are already using it, you know that a customized version of the stock Android OS is running on your phone. Yes, I am talking about the Oxygen OS, a great platform in term of built-in features. However, the system is also causing minor issues which were constantly reported by the users during the last few months. Thus, you should now be excited as a new official update is available for your OnePlus X.
But no, unfortunately it isn’t the 3.0 built of Oxygen OS which was released for the OnePlus 3. In our case the 2.2.2 version of the same firmware is being currently available as an OTA notification. Anyway, the software is bringing all the bug fixes that you hoped for: the screen rotation issue is now fixed, the camera app is updated, the Shiftkey keyboard is improved and face security unlock feature is added. Along with these major OS improvements the same update comes to resolve other minor problems and to address the security glitches.
Bottom line, with the Oxygen OS 2.2.2 firmware installed, your OnePlus X should run better and faster. The update ensures bug fixes, security patches and stability improvements, so you will be able to enjoy a better performance and an upgrade battery life.
Do note that Oxygen OS 2.2.2 is currently rolled out in form of an OTA – you should receive an Android notification anytime now: keep in mind though that OTAs are usually offered in phases or gradually, so don’t panic if you don’t receive the update from day one. Moreover, in order for your OnePlus X to embrace the new Oxygen OS firmware, your smartphone must already run on stock Android OS and root access shouldn’t be ensured – otherwise, you can go to Oxygen OS 2.2.2 only if you perform a manual update procedure and unfortunately, for now, the full software package isn’t available.
The update measures 328 MB so it’s not a major OS improvement. However, before applying it, enable a WiFi connection on your OnePlus X – otherwise you might be extra charged by your carrier. If the OTA isn’t yet showed on your phone, you can try to force it down by tapping on Menu -> Settings -> About Device -> Search for Updates. If the Oxygen OS 2.2.2 notification is displayed, just follow on screen prompts in order to initiate and to complete the flashing process.
Don’t forget to charge your smartphone first, if that’s required – if the power that’s left is currently lower than 50% (if you skip the charging process your OnePlus X might get turned off during the update operation and if that happens various software related problems might be issued: screen freeze, lags, bugs, force close errors, total blackouts, signal strength problems, battery drain, heating issues, boot loops and so on).
After testing the new Oxygen OS platform don’t hesitate and share your thoughts and your experience with us and with other OnePlus X users by using the comments field from down below.
