Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Lands in India With a Rs.59900 Price Tag

As it revealed a few days back, Samsung today formally launched the Galaxy Note 7 in the Indian market. The phablet has been priced at Rs.59,900 in the Indian market, which is slightly higher than the launch price of the Galaxy S7 Edge (Rs.56,900). This is in line with the phablet’s pricing in other markets, so it isn’t just consumers in India that will be paying a premium for Samsung’s newest flagship smartphone.

The version to be sold in India is powered by the Exynos 8890 octa-core chipset, which comes with four custom Samsung M1 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.6 GHz. As we have pointed out in the past, the Exynos 8890 and the Snapdragon 820 chipsets are more or less similar in terms of performance, so there won’t be any noticeable performance difference between a Galaxy Note 7 with an Exynos 8890 chip and one with a Snapdragon 820 inside.

The Galaxy Note 7 comes with a 5.7-inch curved edge Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, HDR support and the same always-on feature that we have seen on the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge as well. It also includes 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable memory (hybrid Dual SIM slots), 12MP Dual Pixel rear camera, 5MP selfie camera, 3500mAh battery with fast charging, an iris scanner, USB Type-C port, IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, improved S-Pen, Cat.12 4G LTE network support, and all the other modern connectivity features that you would expect from a flagship device. The phablet runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box, with Samsung’s TouchWiz UX on top.

Consumers in India will be able to pre-book their Galaxy Note 7 from August 22nd till the 30th. It will be available widely across the country starting September 2. Those who pre-book the phablet will be able to purchase the all-new Gear VR headset for just Rs.1990 instead of its regular price of Rs.7290. Color options for the Indian market include Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, and Black Onyx. No Coral Blue for the Indian market, at least not for now.
