Airtel rolls out e-KYC process across India
Airtel also claims that over 50,000 customers, including customers from rural areas are getting on-board with the Airtel e-KYC process. Further it expects this number to grow more in coming future when Airtel further spread this technology in more areas of the country including those in rural pockets. For this Airtel has a target to have 500,000 retail outlets.
Ajai Puri, director -operations (India & South Asia), Bharti Airtel, "Aadhaar based e-KYC has significantly enhanced the customer experience by enabling faster and paperless onboarding process and we have received very positive response from the customers and channel partners. We plan to deploy this solution in majority of our general trade stores, including those in rural pockets. We believe, this initiative is a great case study for Government's Digital India vision."
For those who are not aware, under e-KYC process you just need to submit your Aadhar card number while purchasing an Airtel SIM. Further you will have to submit Biometrics (iris scan/fingerprint) at the Point of Sale. Thanks to the digitisation, the details are instantly matched with the UIDAI database and following the validation the SIM will be activated in the name of the customer and the registered under Aadhar Card number.
