In last couple of days, many Note 7 users around the world have recently complained about the battery of the smartphone being exploded while charging.
"Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident report from our valued customers very seriously. In response to recently reported cases of the new Galaxy Note7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue," Samsung India said in a press note.
"To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers' safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have delayed sales of the Galaxy Note7 in India," the press note added.
Despite the battery issue, the Note 7 has been praised by many as the best Samsung smartphone till date. Along with innovative Iris scanner, the water and dust proof Note 7 comes packed with high end specs.
As per analysts, though the recent battery issue will dent Samsung's reputation a bit but the No 1 smartphone maker of the world is expected to overcome it without much problem. Samsung here needs to be commended for the prompt action.
Remember Bendgate? In 2014, Apple brought its iPhone 6 and 6 Plus which were soon found with a hardware issue that made them susceptible of bending under pressure. Then Apple had only promised to replace the affected units after physical verification provided the devices were under warranty.
In 2014, Nokia had recalled 30,000 chargers of its Lumia 2520 tablet after users complained of getting electric shocks.
However, it is first of its kind where a flagship model's has been recalled. It is now remains to see if this battery issue is limited to few devices or affect a majority of the Note 7 units.
