SanDisk 1TB and 512GB Extreme PRO SDXC world’s highest capacity SD card announced


Western Digital has unveiled SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO SDXC, which is currently the world’s highest capacity SD card announced. It introduced that first 512GB SD card back in 2014. This is targeted at users those who shoot 4K videos on their DSLR, advanced digital or HD video cameras and also capacity-intensive applications such as virtual reality, video surveillance and 360 video.

Western Digital did not announce when the SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO SDXC card will be available or its pricing. The company will show off a prototype at Photokina this week.


SanDisk is one of the first companies to introduce new technologies in the market. The company introduced the world’s largest capacity microSD card for smart devices earlier this year, which was launched in India few months back. Now the company has announced 512GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I SD memory card for DSLR, advanced digital or HD video cameras, which is the world’s highest capacity SDXC card till date.

SanDisk introduced its first 512MB SD card in 2003,  it took just 11 years to bring memory capacity of 512GB.
