YouTube adds HDR video support

YouTube was rumored to bring support for HDR video since the beginning of this year. The video app from Google has now officially added support for HDR videos for improved video quality.

Users can now watch YouTube videos in HDR on supported devices, such as HDR TVs with the new Chromecast Ultra, and soon on all 2016 Samsung SUHD and UHD TVs. Videos will still play in standard dynamic range on devices that don’t yet support HDR. YouTube will work with partners to enable streaming of the HDR version. YouTube has already added support for 4K content, 360-degree video and live-streaming.
